Position Overview

The Traffic Controller is responsible for safely directing vehicle movement within the dump/waste facility while providing courteous, professional customer service. This position also requires accurate data entry and transaction processing using a tablet or digital system.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers, contractors, and drivers in a friendly and professional manner

• Direct incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic to designated dumping areas

• Operate a tablet to input customer, load, or ticket information accurately

• Verify load types and ensure proper routing based on facility guidelines

• Communicate clearly with drivers to maintain safe traffic flow

• Monitor site activity to prevent congestion and safety hazards

• Report unsafe behavior, equipment concerns, or incidents to management

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow facility safety procedures

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Ability to use a tablet/computer for basic data entry

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Ability to stand for long periods and direct traffic safely

• Dependable, professional, and safety-focused

Preferred (not required):

• Prior experience in traffic control, waste facilities, or customer service

• Knowledge of safety protocols or flagging practices
