Description
The Nutrition Program Specialist position
- Makes home visits to interview applicants for Adult Nutrition assistance programs; records information in required forms; completes assessment to determine eligibility.
- Investigates and verifies documents related to client’s application, consults with supervisory personnel on complex cases or actions.
- Advise applicants of approval or denial of benefits or services; provides explanations of rights of appeal and client responsibilities for continued benefits or services.
- Reads and interprets written policies and procedures applicable to Federal, State, and local laws related to public service assistance.
- Conducts follow up evaluations of clients according to a defined time and case management schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalency AND 3 years of clerical work experience involving interviewing, bookkeeping, public contact, or community work; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
A High School diploma or GED and one year of eligibility experience is required. The applicant selected must provide a copy of transcripts and undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL OR ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
- Valid driver’s license required
