Job Description Summary:
A Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise and materials. The ideal candidate will safely and efficiently handle goods within the warehouse or distribution center while ensuring the integrity of all products. Forklift operators must follow all safety procedures and meet operational targets.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Operate a forklift to transport materials within the warehouse or distribution area
Load and unload materials from raw material inventory, roll stock, and work in progress (WIP)
Move materials to appropriate production locations
Stack materials or products in designated areas according to established procedures
Ensure the proper handling and safe transport of materials to prevent damage
Perform daily forklift inspections using the Forklift Inspection Report
Report any issues or malfunctions to the supervisor immediately
Maintain accurate inventory records
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
Assist in preparing goods for shipment and help with shipping/receiving when needed
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Assist in other areas of the manufacturing plant as needed
Complete any other tasks assigned by the Production/Process Manager
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid forklift certification required (or will be provided by the company)
Previous forklift or material handling experience preferred
Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
Ability to read and interpret inventory systems and labels
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods
Comfortable operating heavy machinery for extended periods
Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with exposure to hazardous substances
