We are seeking a certified Special Education Teacher to provide in-person instructional services to students receiving treatment at Children’s National Hospital. This is a part-time, temporary assignment expected to continue through the end of the current school year.
The selected candidate will deliver individualized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals while collaborating with hospital staff, families, and school personnel to ensure continuity of educational services during hospitalization.
Provide one hour of direct special education instruction daily (Monday–Friday) between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with student IEPs
Maintain accurate documentation of instructional time, student progress, and accommodations
Communicate and collaborate with school personnel, hospital staff, and families as appropriate
Adapt instructional strategies to meet the medical and emotional needs of hospitalized students
Utilize planning time (1 hour daily) to prepare lessons, document services, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders
Must hold a valid and current certification as a Special Education Teacher
Must be available to work in person at Children’s National Hospital
Ability to travel to 111 Michigan Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20010
ACPS will not reimburse parking fees
Experience working with diverse learners and students with varying medical needs preferred
Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Assignment length is tentative through the end of the school year
Compensation includes both instructional time and planning time (total of 10 hours per week)
